This was announced at a meeting of the International Club of Ski Journalists (SCIJ) in Sochi, during which the Kazakhstan team along with the national company Kazakh Tourism submitted a corresponding application in order to host the event next year in the mountain resort Shymbulak. Kazakhstan surpassed Slovenia in the vote, where the majority of journalists-skier voted for our country.

“This is going to be a good promotion of Kazakhstan, because SCIJ club is more than 65 years old and it unites about 2000 reputable journalists from around the world! Having seen the beauty of our country, they will “tell” the whole world about it, ”commented Yerzhan Yerkinbaev, Chairman of the JSC NC“ KazakhTourism ” Management Board.

The annual meetings of the international club are considered as an informal world championship among the media sphere in ski disciplines – such as downhill and cross-country skiing.

In addition, the event traditionally includes the working meetings, round tables devoted to trending topics in journalism, networking, and most importantly, the representatives of leading world media outlets getting acquainted with the country, its culture and tourist opportunities.

“This is our first bid won in 2020 for hosting the event - and this is exactly that format of event projects which we focus on: participants arrive at their own expense, the local stakeholder, in this particular case- Shymbulak, takes on all the organizational aspects, and the state represented by Kazakh Tourism will be responsible for country promotion through the organization of pre- and post-tours and other programs, ”mentioned the head of the national company.

It should be noted that over the entire history of these meetings, thousands of publications in the media, on television and radio have reached tens of millions of people.

SCIJ (SkiClubInternationaldesJournalistes) – The International Club of Ski Journalists was founded in 1955. In the same year, the first meeting of journalists was held in Meribel (France).
