Dzungarian Alatau: a look into the depths of centuries

Today, on August 24, the third expedition on the route "Dzungarian Alatau" has ended. The participants of the expedition traveled 2,130 kilometers in 12 days. The expedition is held within the framework of the project "Uly Dala Eline Sayakhat" and is dedicated to the study of protected areas of Kazakhstan. During these days, the expedition team, which included television journalists, representatives of tour operators, foreign and Kazakh travel bloggers, such as Kai Grossmann, a landscape photographer from Switzerland, British traveler and photographer Jack Hardin, Kazakh travel blogger Andrey Kulagin, was able to appreciate the beauty of the Almaty region. Starting from August 13, the project participants visited such unique places where natural monuments harmoniously coexist with historical ones. They visited the necropolis of Besshatyr, the secrets of which have not yet been fully revealed. We visited the Singing Dune, which impresses with its amazing property – to make sounds similar to the music of the organ. The national Park "Altyn-Emel", on the territory of which these natural monuments are located, is one of the most favorite places for tourists. In order to see all the beauties of the Altyn-Emel National Park, you need to spend a lot of time there. The route of this expedition was built in such a way that the participants could see more objects in a short time. The Aktau and Katutau mountains, located in the eastern part of the park to the south of the Altyn Emel ridge, were formed from sediments on the bottom of the ocean that once splashed on this land. Clays of variegated colors paint the slopes in various colors. "It's like we were on the moon," the expedition members said. In the Bayan-Zhurek mountains, which are located on the territory of the Aksu district, the participants of the expedition saw rock paintings of the Early Iron Age. This mountain stretches from west to east for about 20 km and reaches a height of 2079 m. Bayan-Zhurek is separated from the Dzungarian Alatau by the Kaskarau mountain valley. Hundreds of rock carvings are carved on the rocks and large stones in the south-western part, the plots and style of which differ from other similar monuments to Zhetysu. At the northern spurs of the Dzungarian Alatau, in the valley of the Bien River, on a small plateau, there is a unique ancient sanctuary, a real observatory. This is a large ring with a diameter of 97 m, made of stones. In the center there is a huge boulder of glacial origin and a cross of large stones is laid out separately. This cross is oriented to the cardinal directions: north – south, west-east. After overcoming 20 km of mountain road, which can only be used by specially prepared SUVs, our travelers arrived at the Burhan-Bulak waterfall, which is considered the second highest waterfall in Central Asia. The route of the expedition also passed through the Kora gorge, which has long become the hallmark of the Dzungarian Alatau. It is located in the western part of the Main, northern Ridge. The length of the gorge from the Sapozhnikov Glacier to the confluence with the Karatal River is 70 km. The participants of the expedition were impressed by the variety and colorfulness of the landscapes, the richness of the flora and fauna of the Semirechye. At the same time, adjustments were made to the original route according to the proposals of the participants themselves. Based on these recommendations, travel companies will soon compile and work out the most optimal tours in the vicinity of the Dzungarian Alatau. "This route is very rich in both natural and archaeological monuments. Such a long tour, with a visit to all the monuments, still requires some physical training from travelers. Therefore, most likely, we will make several different routes that differ both in terms and levels of complexity, " said the head of the expedition Inkar Menayakova. Recall that the project "Uly Dala Eline Sayakhat" is implemented by the National Company "Kazakh Tourism" by order of the Committee of the Tourism Industry of the Ministry of Culture and Sports, as part of the celebration of the 20th anniversary of the capital of the Republic of Kazakhstan-the city of Astana. Following the results of the expedition, a special program on visiting tourist sites will be launched on the Kazakh TV channel. The official media partner of the expedition is the Khabar Agency. For reference: The following expedition routes will stretch through the following areas: Kyzylorda, Aktobe, Mangystau regions - From sea to sea; Turkestan, Zhambyl, Almaty regions – The New Silk Road. The team of the National Geographic Russia TV channel will take part in the "New Silk Road" route.
