Renowned chocolatier creates «Zhumbacktas» dessert

Entrepreneurs from Kazakhstan who have been awarded the «Quality Mark
» are promoting the principles of conscious tourism and respectful attitudes toward the country's natural landmarks. A new gastronomic initiative is dedicated to one of the symbols of the Shchuchinsk–Burabay resort area — the Zhumbacktas rock.

The holder of the “Quality Mark” – La Crème restaurant – presented its gastronomic creation «Zhumbacktas» in Astana. The main goal is to foster a respectful attitude toward tourist attractions and raise awareness of the importance of their preservation. The exclusive dessert was created by renowned chocolatier and European pastry champion Hans Ovando.

«Quality in tourism services is one of the key factors influencing the country's attractiveness for travelers. Our 'Quality Mark' program aims to raise hospitality standards and motivate the tourism sector to grow. More than 220 companies have already confirmed compliance with tourism industry requirements. We welcome the initiative and social responsibility of our entrepreneurs who promote the value and importance of preserving natural landmarks», - said Daniel Serzhanuly, аcting Chairman of the Board of JSC NC Kazakh Tourism.

Gastronomy today is not just about taste – it's about meaning. The project was initiated by Dana Kanapina, founder of La Crème. Together with Hans Ovando, she visited Borovoe back in 2024 to learn about the history of the Zhumbacktas rock firsthand, talk to local residents, and study regional ingredients. One of those ingredients – honey from a local apiary – was included in the final recipe for the «Zhumbacktas» dessert.

«When creating the ‘Zhumbacktas’ dessert, we wanted not only to convey flavor but also to inspire more people to learn about the beauty of Borovoe. For us, it’s important that love for such places gives rise to a desire to preserve them for future generations and to develop a culture of conscious tourism», - shared La Crème co-founder Askar Kanapin.

It is worth noting that in 2021, Kazakh Tourism launched the «Quality Mark» program. It aims to enhance the culture of hospitality and improve the quality of tourism services in Kazakhstan. The «Quality Mark» is awarded to tour operators, accommodation facilities, and food establishments at two levels: «Very Nice» and «Nice».
