Kazakhstan ranked among the top seven most in-demand international destinations for tourists from the PRC during the New Year holiday period. This is stated in the “Tourism Trends Report for the 2026 New Year Holidays,” published by one of China’s largest online travel agencies, Tongcheng Travel.
According to the report, from early December through the New Year holidays, the number of flight bookings from China’s largest cities to Kazakhstan increased by more than 50% compared to the same period last year. Hotel bookings rose by more than 80%.
It is noted that within China’s outbound tourism structure, interest in destinations in Central Asia and Northern Europe is increasing. Kazakhstan is strengthening its position as a promising destination for winter vacations and active tourism. The cities of Almaty and Astana are the most popular among Chinese tourists.
Tongcheng Travel analysts also note a rise in demand for ski trips to Kazakhstan since late November.
It should be noted that over the first 11 months of the current year, the number of visitors from the PRC to Kazakhstan exceeded 876,000 people. By comparison, over the 12 months of the previous year, this figure stood at 655,000. This confirms the high level of interest in our country and the effectiveness of systematic efforts to promote Kazakhstan in the Chinese tourism market, simplify visa procedures, and expand direct air connections between our countries.
