Commemorative events marking the 80th anniversary of the renowned Kazakh writer and playwright Oralkhan Bokei are set to take place across three regions of Kazakhstan. A series of over a dozen events are scheduled in the Katon-Karagai district of the East Kazakhstan region, as well as in Almaty and Astana, spanning from August 25 to September 30.
The celebratory program kicks off on August 25 in the author’s birthplace, the Katon-Karagai district of the East Kazakhstan region. A series of events are scheduled throughout the day, culminating in a grand gala concert at the Katon-Karagai racetrack. The festivities will begin with the opening of the Oralkhan Bokei Square, followed by the unveiling of the writer’s bust and the opening of his house museum. Additionally, an open-air for artists will be set up on the same day.
A roundtable discussion with the theme «Oz Otyndy Oshirme» («Do not put out your fire») is scheduled in Astana on Friday, September 15th. On the same day the Zhastar Theater will host the «Kar Kyzy» festival. Additionally, a commemorative dinner will be held at Hazrat Sultan Mosque.
The series of ceremonial events will extend over three days in Almaty. From September 28th to 30th, a writers’ conference will be taking place in the city, accompanied by a memorial dinner. On September 29th, an event titled «Alaman Aitys» will take place at the Alatau Theatre.
Oralkhan Bokei was a distinguished journalist, writer, and playwright. He holds a prominent membership in the Writers’ Union of Kazakhstan. His was born on September 28, 1943 in the village of Chingistai in Katon-Karagai district of the East Kazakhstan region.
