Kazakhstan is becoming an attractive destination for South Korean tourists

Kazakhstan is emerging as a new popular destination in Central Asia for travelers from South Korea. According to data from the digital tourism platform Agoda, interest in our country increased by 295% from January to October 2025.

This year has seen a significant rise in search queries for tours and accommodations in Kazakhstan among South Korean tourists. The growing interest has been supported by the expansion of direct air connections between the two countries. According to Agoda, the launch of Eastar Jet’s Incheon–Almaty flight boosted the popularity of the southern capital, leading to a 348% increase in search activity. The city of Shymkent is also showing growth, with interest from South Korean travelers increasing by 89%. The surge in demand was driven by SCAT’s launch of a direct flight from Incheon in May. Meanwhile, Air Astana has increased the frequency of its flights from Seoul to Almaty and Astana.

«We are witnessing a clear rise in interest among South Korean travelers in destinations that combine adventure, culture, and authenticity, with Central Asia standing out as a region of growing appeal», - noted Jay Lee, Agoda’s Regional Director for North Asia.

Overall, there is a noticeable trend of increasing interest from South Korean tourists in Central Asian destinations. The total volume of search queries for the four key destinations in the region increased by 225% compared to the same period last year.

Kazakh Tourism continues its consistent efforts to promote the country’s tourism potential in South Korea. This year, B2B meetings and information tours were held to strengthen partnerships between leading tourism companies of both countries.
